8 questions, answered.

01How many hours per day should I wear the garment?

Week 1–2: 22 hours/day. Week 3–4: 20 hours/day. Week 5–6: 12–14 hours/day. From week 7 onward: 8–10 hours/day, optional overnight. Your surgeon's specific protocol always overrides these defaults.

02Can I sleep with the garment on?

Yes — and you should, especially in weeks 1 through 4. Sleeping in compression reduces overnight edema and improves morning swelling significantly. Elevate the head of the bed 30° for the first two weeks.

03How do I shower? Do I take it off?

Remove it for cleansing only. Pat skin dry, do not rub. Put the garment back on within 20 minutes — longer periods uncompressed in the first two weeks can cause measurable rebound edema.

04When does it stop being uncomfortable?

Most patients report a clear comfort shift between day 5 and day 8. If discomfort is sharp, asymmetric, or sudden — call your surgeon. That is not the garment, it is a clinical signal.

05How do I know if the size is wrong?

Wrong size = visible pressure rolls, numbness lasting more than 20 minutes after wear, or skin marking that doesn't fade within an hour. Contact us for a fit review within the first 7 days.

06Will the garment leave permanent marks on my skin?

No. Temporary indentations from seams and closures fade within 30–60 minutes. Permanent skin changes from compression are not a documented outcome with SkinTex® fiber.

07Can I use lotion or scar serum under the garment?

Not in weeks 1–4. Oils and silicones break down the fiber's elastic memory and can trap heat. From week 5, surgeon-approved silicone strips placed over scars only — never full-area lotion.

08What if I'm allergic to the fabric?

True allergy is rare. SkinTex® is OEKO-TEX® certified and free of latex, nickel, and known sensitizers. If you experience persistent rash, remove the garment and contact us — we will replace with a hypoallergenic liner option at no cost.
